Movies make for some of the best date nights, wouldn’t you agree?
Think of the Florida Film Festival as a collection of 10 days of date nights, all centered around unforgettable film, scrumptious food, and fabulous parties.
And you’re invited to all of it!
From April 4 – 13, the Enzian will present an expansive collection of more than 170 feature and short films representing 26 countries, along with celebrity guest appearances, forums and parties. Of the films selected, 137 have premiere status.
That's a lot to tackle, so here are some tips for how the two of you can wade through this momentous annual affair together:
Step One: Get tickets to single screenings
Check out the Festival’s Film Guide and decide which films are on your 'must-see' list. I prescreened Love Me (a documentary about men seeking brides overseas) and Forev (a hearwarming and funny feature) and recommend them both. Buzzworthy films include The Trip to Italy, Dom Hemingway (staring Jude Law) and The Double (staring Jesse Eisenberg of The Social Network).
You can buy single tickets for each film ($9-$11 each), but I would encourage you to consider snagging the Cinematic Sampler Pack, which will give you 5 film vouchers for just $50. There are several festival packages ranging from a handful of tickets to the all-access Platinum Pass, which pretty much gets you into everything.
Step Two: Pick at least one event to attend
There are so many fun events planned for this year’s Florida Film Festival, but here are two I think you and your boo will love most:
Italian Cinema Night
Monday, April 7
6:3pm Film: Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion
8pm: FREE Tasting Reception at Eden Bar fountain area
9:30PM Film: Cheatin’

Locally Fresh Screening + Farmer's Market

After "Locally Fresh!" head to the lawn at Eden Bar for a farmers market. Guests will get a chance to talk to the famers and other local vendors as well as purchase goods to take home to try.
See a complete list of food events and parties.
Step Three: Partake in all the freebies
Besides ticketed events, which are still pretty darn reasonable, the FFF features a bevy of events that are free, wonderfully free! Here are a few you might want to check out:

Step Four: Close Out the Festival at the Awards Bash
Every year, the FFF closes out the festival with a ‘come one, come all’ party where everyone, including visiting celebs, let their hair down.
Awards Bash
Saturday, April 12, 7pm – 10pm
Rick’s Speakeasy (1116 Solana Avenue, Winter Park)
Tickets $45 in advance or $50 on day of event.
After Party at Eden Bar, midnight – 2am
I’ve heard it said that the Florida Film Festival has a reputation for being one of the warmest and most welcoming film festivals in the world. It has become the event for film creators and buffs to casually gather and celebrate great cinematic art. Grab your sweetie and join in the festivities; you might just reignite more than a love of film.
